Mortal Kombat and it's Future on HBO Max...

April 23rd, 2021 will see the release of the long awaited Mortal Kombat reboot, directed by Simon McQuoid. The reboot will once again be released by New Line Cinema, Owned by Warner Bros (who is owned by AT&T.) It's long been the goal of AT&T to boost their new, exclusive streaming service HBO Max. To this end all Warner Bros. films in 2021 will be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. 

The goal is to use the streaming platform to become the dominant force in streaming services. To that end HBO Max is attempting to build a massive catalog of content and with the upcoming Mortal Kombat Reboot, there presents an opportunity to build content around the film, post release, and build up to the anticipated plans of the film franchise.

I have come up with four different "Pitches" for Mortal Kombat Series that could appear on HBO Max. Each series taking place at a different point in the Mortal Kombat timeline, will tell different tales and origins fleshing out the universe of the Mortal Kombat film.

MORTAL KOMBAT: OUTWORLD, A Game of Thrones-Esq series about the Rise of Emperor Shao Khan, with the help of Minions: Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Sindel. Beginning as Shao Khan is the Protector of Outworld, he challenges Emperor Jarrod, whose nature threatens Outworld's Capitol Edenia, while also battling numerous tribes (The 'Tarkatans' The 'Shokan' and The 'Zatarrans') and "Pretenders to the Throne" (Jade, Kotal Khan, Onaga: The Dragon King). Seeing the rise of Shao Khan and how he was able to force unity in Outworld.

MORTAL KOMBAT: FEUDAL, The story of the centuries old War between the Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei as it shows the rise of Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion), Bi Han (Sub Zero) and his brother Kuai Liang (Tundra) and a futile attempt at peace between the warring clans, as well as a love story between Kuai and a Lin Kuei Warrior Frost.

MORTAL KOMBAT: SPECIAL FORCES, An espionage thriller focusing on Jax Briggs and Sonya Blade as they attempt to bring down The Black Dragon Triad. Set before the events of the film the Series will see the duo recruit Curtis Stryker and Kano in their mission to wipe out the Black Dragon Organization.

MORTAL KOMBAT: WHITE LOTUS, an origin tale of the Great Kung Lao, once Earth's Greatest Warrior, hand picked and trained by Lord Raiden, leading to the Ninth Mortal Kombat, as Kung Lao goes on a Journey of discovery while also revealing the origins of Bo'Rai Cho, and a blind Shonan: Kenshi. 

These are my Pitches for Four possible Mortal Kombat Series that could be streamed on HBO Max, leading into the anticipated reboot.
