Fantastic 4 (2005) Done Right!

My take on what could have been with 2005's Fantastic 4 Adaptation from 20th Century Fox.

6 years Prior, (Before "Fantastic Four") in 1999, There Existed the Baxter Think-tank. Which included a field of young Scientist, including Dr. Reed Richards and Dr. Victor Von Doom, mentored by Dr. Franklin Storm. Together they had been working on a trans-dimensional Teleporter, theorizing their to be a Dimension where you can view others a place dimensions meet, a Negative Zone. Each of them had their own reasons for doing such, Dr. Storm wished to show the world what he could bring it, Reed wanted to explore the unknown out of curiosity, and Von Doom had wanted to find the Dimensions of Biblical Hell and Heaven, to give his mother eternal rest.  After ten years of work, in late 1999, they had cracked the equation and put together the N-Zone Teleporter. After a decade of work they had been able to figure everything out. Drawing the attention of Government investors from inside forces like the C.I.A., F.B.I., and Department of Defense in hopes to use the N-Zone teleporter for military applications.

Doom operates the field, Reed Operates the Manual Control Room, While  Storm operates a Public Control Room. As the Machine turns on, The energy levels hit Critical Mass, Reed attempts to Warn Doom, but before he can the Machine Explodes, engulfing Doom. This kills Reed and Franklin's desire to explore the N-Zone, Reed blaming himself for killing Doom.

2005! Times have changed, Reed has been making breakthroughs in theories resulting a Space Time Vortex. Now, along Fellow Scientist Susan Storm, and Pilots Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm, the are on The Von Doom Memorial Space station conducting Experiments and studies. Grimm and Johnny are there to Pilot the Mission back to earth once it's completed. All the Information is being transferred back to the Baxter Building, where Doctor Franklin Storm has been assisting Reed in analyzing it.

During their experimental Studies {And Johnny and Ben's Weekley Poker Game}: A vortex opens up with waves of N-Zone Radiation, leaving The Crew of the Space Station to Abandon post! They evacuate, via Space Shuttle -- Flying through the Space back to Earth, trying to escape the N-Zone Wave, They Fail and just inside Earth's atmosphere the Shuttle explodes, The Four of them sent to separate areas --

Ben Wakes up in The New Mexico Desert, Johnny Wakes up Somewhere in France, Reed Strung out {literally} along the Four Corners monument, and Sue in A New York alley. Sue is found by her Father, who then enlists the Military's help in tracking the Other 3 Down. Who each display a sensation of Weirdness in newly acquired abilities.

A Breaking News Report brings us to A CNN Like channel, where they're announcing That Prime Minister of Latveria, "Only Known to outside officials as The Good Doctor" and Ambassador Lucia Von Bardas, coming to the United States to attend a U.N. Summit  Meeting. The Latverian Embassy is Outfitted with a Furbished Manor where the Good Doctor can rest with all the Comforts.

Back at the Baxter Building Reed is trying to figure out what happened, while the other 3 Get adjusted to their new states, Sue does basic Biological analysis on them. Franklin Assists Reed on the Math of the N-Zone Energy wave, It appearing in Space like that does not sit well with Reed nor Franklin. They know a Machine Had to have created such an event, waves of Energy don't just "Pop up" in space.

The images of Reed and Franklin speaking switch to Black and White, another image Joins it as it Zooms out, That of Ben with Sue in a sort of Psychological Evaluation, While Johnny plays with Fire. All this being watched by a Cloaked figure in a Hyper-Tech Suit of Armor (Something Way more advanced looking than Iron Man, Very Compact) This is 'The Good Doctor' but everyone knows... This is DOCTOR DOOM.

Watching the Fantastic Four, in his hands, floating wire, metallic microchips, forming together to form, a GUN. Doctor Holds it at the Screens. He calls for Lucia. Tells Her to stage something -- He wants to know what these freaks are capable of.

Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben all hang out at the Baxter Building, while those Reed and Sue work, Johnny and Ben Play, and Fight. Franklin starts to feel like an outsider, He does little to help, seeing himself out of their league. Franklin begins working on a side project, which will become the Fantastic Four Uniforms.

The Four Attempt to go out and exist in a Normal Life, Ben goes out at night and at a Bar Meet's a beautiful blind women, Alicia Masters. She is the first person not to see the horrid monster outside but the beautiful man inside. Johnny Finds a lovely Young woman to date impressing her using the abilities of the Human Torch, and Reed and Sue go on a date themselves, who in comical fashion get use to their new abilities.

U.N. Summit, Lucia Von Bardas Ambassador of Latveria, speaks with the rest of the United Nations, the same old ideas of unity and Peace. And How the Good Doctor's efforts have been in the realm of The Best Interest of Latveria, boosting it's World Economy.

The Image fades to a viewing screen, Doom Watching. He switches to the Baxter Building, watching Reed in his Lab, he hears Reed kicking himself for not being able to figure out why the N-Zone Energy appeared. Sue attempt to cheer him up to help him get through it. Ben Visits with Alicia, While Johnny Text's his girlfriend. Ben sees Alicia out to a cab, where the Cab driver fearfully keeps calm as Ben helps Alicia in the car, Ben gives the guy a $20.00 to get her home.

Doom Manipulates mechanical equipment inside the room. Just as Reed turns to see, Doom just drops it. Several loud "clunks" echo in the background Doom speaks to them, telling "them" to "Show Richards what he's capable of. Bring me Storm!"

Cut To: Baxter Building - Reed researching with Franklin, Sue doing Biological studies on "3D Holograms" which look to be focused on Ben. Johnny and Ben are playing Poker. A horde of "Doombots" Crash through the building. The Doombots attack the Fantastic Four, They speak a tad obviously about trying to Kidnap Storm. Sue tries to shield her Father,  Reed Orders Johnny and Sue to get their Father to Safety.

Reed and Ben destroy Doombots left and right, Sue and Johnny are dropping down different levels of the Baxter Building. The Doombots attack and get Franklin Storm. The Four feel a huge loss.  Reed is all but Kicking himself for losing Franklin, Reed promises to get Franklin back alive. Sue tells Reed he needs to start keeping his promises. This hit's Reed hard.

Cut To: LATVERIAN Embassy. An Injured Franklin Storm being tended too by medics, The Doombots stand down. Doctor Doom enters as Franklin begins to question where he is and what he is doing. Doctor Doom speaks to him, and Franklin knows exactly who it is. Doom tells him the tragic tail of Betrayel of Friends, Loss of hope, and the Birth of the Mastermind that is Doctor Doom. Franklin does the all too predictable thing and asks Doom why, Doom refuses to answer, seeing his side as a proper enough reason. Franklin calls him insane.  Doom tells him he will be properly taken care of as a guest at the Latverian Embassy.

At The United Nations, They have been hounding to discover the leader of the Latverian people, Lucai promises to ask her Emperor to visit the New York Summit meeting. In Private Doom speaks with Lucia, telling her that Richards needs more time to figure it out, when he does, Doom will make his presence known.

At The Baxter Building: Reed, depressingly, sifts through the rubble. He looks on the Doombots, finds Lettering, He Looks it up to find it's Latverian Runik Lettering. Reed thinks he knows who it is. He looks at the Data, Comparing the time of the N-Zone Energy appearing, matching records with Power Usage data, The only location that had been using enough power for the type of machine it would take to operate that was The "Doctor's Castle" in Doomstadt Latveria. Reed goes through an Internet Search for Latveria, discovering the Grand Emperor of Latveria has come to New York - Doom watches all this from a Camera.

Doom Tells Lucia its time to make his presence known. He releases Franklin Storm, unknown to him is carrying a Techno-virus concealed on a thumb drive, the Drive will download all the Data on the Baxter Building server. Franklin Returns to the Baxter building. Telling Reed Doom is alive, Reed uncovers that  Doom returned from the N-Zone became the Emperor of Latveria after overthrowing the former Tyrant.

Franklin uncovers the hidden Thumb-drive and gives to Reed. He plugs it in and the Doom Techno-virus begins to Download as Doom speaks to Richards through the Monitor. Reed understands a reckoning is occurring. Doom explains his plan was to Trap Richards in the N-Zone and let him die knowing that none of his friends would ever save him, the same Fate Doom felt. Doom Fully intends for this to happen regardless Reed's abilities or not. This scene played as a montage as against Doom appearing at the U.N. Mask and All, Speaking with them, earning their Favor.

Franklin tells Reed that they can not allow Doom to do that, especially when it could cause the lives of Millions of Peoples. Franklin shows Reed the suits he constructed for the team, the "4" Emblem emblazoned in the center -- The  Fantastic Four Uniforms!

Franklin talks about a mechanical engineering background, tells the team of a Pet project he and Reed had worked on for a few years to get their minds right, a Hover vehicle that many will know as The Fantasti-Car.

The Fantastic Four wait for Doom to Return to The Latverian Embassy. They Drop in to see Doom waiting for them. Reed asks Doom why, Doom tells him it's simple... Doom had felt hopelessness in the face of Nonexistence.

A battle ensues, Starting in the Embassy and breaking into the Streets of New York. Doom controls the fight, When he risks an Innocent person's life it's at a controlled pace. He doesn't do anything he knows can't be stopped. The  Four are looking good, Doom begins halting when he sees involvement of Police Helicopters going over New York. Police Officers enter the area.  Doom Stands back on The Embassy soil. Reed Goes to attack, Doom Stops him, reminds Reed that He attacked Doom on Latverian Soil, and Doom made them Look good. Reed asks Doom why do all of this, Doom confesses to bigger happenings in the works. He might hate Richards but he's well aware of a growing Power that threatens Earth and Earth Needed more than One Super Powered being to fight it. The luck of three others being involved only helps. Doom then announces to the World his "Greatest Creation: The Fantastic Four!" Doom Retreats to Latveria telling Richards "This isn't over. Enjoy your fame!"

The City applauds the foundation of the Fantastic Four, who begrudgingly go on record calling Doom a hero, saying he brought out the best of them, Reed cryptically comments, 'in the Face of Doom we found out what was Fantastic about ourselves, and have decided to help the good People of New York."

Montage view: Richards and Sue Dating, The Team getting together to be Heroes for New York, Fighting A Giant Mole  Monster -- After Credit Scene Doom watching Monitors in Castle Doom. On one of the Monitors a blip appears the outline of which resembles Galactus' Helmet.

Production Designer: a production designer or P.D is the person responsible for the overall look of a filmed event such as films, TV programs, video games, music videos or adverts. .
John Myhre [Notable Works: X-Men, Ali, Memoirs of a Geisha]: I love his work as a P.D. The work he did on X-Men was absolutely Phenomenal, it took us to a world of Superheroes and Supervillains, The work he did on Memoirs of a Geisha was absolutely breathtaking, his work on the film earned him an Oscar, if there is anyone that can give us a world of Super Heroes, a lair of an Unstoppable Super Villain and a Germanic country distinct from many others, John Myhre definitely seems like the right person for the job.

The role of the costume designer is to create the characters and balance the scenes with texture and color, etc.The costume designer works alongside the director, scenic, lighting designer, sound designer, and other creative personnel. In European theatre, the role is different, as the theatre designer usually designs both costume and scenic elements.

Sammy Sheldon [Notable Works: Black Hawk Down, The Merchant of Venice, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy]: Her work in a Merchant of Venice was amazing. She appropriately captures the themes of each character and their appropriate struggles in a visual unspoken format. Her work with Black Hawk Down was strongly adherent to the world of a war torn nation. She could certainly bust out some fantastic designs for Marvel's first Family.

The study and practice of this field is referred to as cinematography.

A great Cinematographer he has helped Johnston capture the distinct spirit of his pictures, allowing for a enchanting and haunting Jungle setting as well as a cold and desolate Desert, with the work done on Sky High it is absolute that he would be the perfect Cinematographer for Fantastic 4.

Film Editor: Film editing is part of the creative post-production process of filmmaking. The term film editing is derived from the traditional process of working with film, but now it increasingly involves the use of digital technology.

Robert Dalva [Notable Works: October Sky, Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo]: An Editor who has much experience in splicing together moments of excitement, high octane action, with drama, and Humor. The score forms part of the film's soundtrack, which also usually includes dialogue and sound effects, and comprises a number of orchestral, instrumental or choral pieces called cues which are timed to begin and end at specific points during the film in order to enhance the dramatic narrative and the emotional impact of the scene in question.

James Horner [Notable Works: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Rocketeer, Jumanji]: James has done some dynamic work with Team Movies like Star Trek 2, Has gained some wonderful Super Heroic themes in the Rocketeer, and Humorous tones with Jumanji. He's done wonderful work in his career and would be absolutely perfect to compose a wonderful theme for Fantastic 4!

Screenplay: A screenplay or script is a written work by screenwriters for a film, video game or television program. These screenplays can be original works or adaptations from existing pieces of writing. In them, the movement, actions, expression, and dialogues of the characters are also narrated. A play for television is also known as a teleplay.

William Goldman [Notable Works: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Princess Bride, Hearts in Atlantis, Dreamcatcher]: An Oscar winning Screenwriter, best known for the novel 'The Princess Bride' and had later adapted it into a legendary film. William has written a number of wonderful Scripts, with Hearts in Atlantis he did something deep and wonderful. Dreamcatcher was an high paced horrific tale. His work as a writer is legendary an would do an absolutely wonderful job crafting a family appropriate and comic book friendly Screenplay for what would have been the Perfect Fantastic Four Movie.

Director: Directors are responsible for overseeing creative aspects of a film under the overall control of the film producer. They often develop the vision for a film and carry out the vision, deciding how the film should look, in other words they make their vision come to life. They are responsible for turning the script into a sequence of shots. They also direct what tone it should have and what an audience should gain from the cinematic experience. Film directors are responsible for deciding camera angles, lens effects and lighting with the help of the cinematographer and set design with the production designer. They will often take part in hiring the cast and key crew members. They coordinate the actors' moves, or blocking and also may be involved in the writing, financing and editing of a film.

Joe Johnston [Notable Works: The Rocketeer, October  Sky, Jurassic  Park III, Hidalgo]: Joe is a strong visual storyteller. He has given us some pretty great films. The  Rocketeer was a fantastic superhero film and October Sky was a touching film and Hidalgo was an uplifting western. His work has been absolutely wonderful. He has wonderful work and has done strong work with Special Effects Movies and could certainly put together a wonderful Fantastic 4 Film!

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic [Height: 5' 11", Age: 30's]: Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is a member of the Fantastic Four. Brilliant mathematician and physicist, Reed Richards is a humble genius and gifted idealist.

Matt Damon [Height: 5' 10", Age: 35 (As Of 2005), Notable Works: Good Will Hunting, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Identity]: An odd choice, but still, I am a fan of Matt Damon he's got a lovable love life attitude that makes him seem great for the role. Honestly its the fact that he has played a genius before, and that he takes acting and performing to heart. He's got the talent to play the role, and make it seem like one of the best comic book performances. He's really an actor no one would really think about. But I think if anyone has a great chance of play Reed Richards it's definitely Damon.

Susan Storm-Richards/Invisible Woman [Height: 5' 7", Age: 20's-Early 30's]: A beautiful genetic researcher, she is best known as Invisible Woman, a Member of the Fantastic Four, a humble woman with simple dreams of family and life as a superhero.

Julie Benz [Height: 5' 4", Age: 33 (As Of 2005), Notable Works: Angel, Halo 2{Video  Game}, The Long Shot]: Julie is a lovely, talented, and wonderful actresses working. She was a popular fan candidate for Sue Storm, She has so many of the qualities that fit the character that it's perfectly easy to see why she works. She has the Motherly quality but also has a sense of intelligence about her that allows Sue to be more than the trophy wife.

Johnny Storm/Human Torch [Height: 6' 0", Age: Late 20's-Early 30's]: Johnny is the impetuous and immature brother of Sue Storm, and joined her sister in Reed Richards's spacial project. When Johnny got hit by the cosmic radiation that gave the rest of the team (Sue, Reed, and Ben Grimm) super powers, Johnny gained the power of fire generation and flight.

Ryan Reynolds [Height: 6' 2", Age: 29  (As Of 2005), Notable Works: Van Wilder, Foolproof, Blade: Trinity]: I know a lot of People get sick of Ryan as an actor, many feel he is an instant curese to some movies but when it comes to cocky, self absorbed womanizing hero figures, well Reynolds is just about the perfect choice their is. He was pretty young at the time and he was gaining popularity and with his comical timing he would be a perfect Human Torch.

Benjamin Grimm/The Thing [Height: 6' 0" (After Transformation, In Movie), Age: 30's-40's]: Ben is the best friend of Reed Richards. Joining Reed on his  Spacial experiment as a Pilot, Ben was bombarded by the same Energy that transformed the rest of the Fantastic Four. The experiment had turned him into the monstrous Thing.

Dwayne Johnson [Height: 6' 5", Age: 33 (As Of 2005), Notable Works: The Rundown, The Mummy Returns, Walking Tall]: Dwayne at the time was one of the biggest stars at the time, and he drew in Box Office. He is actually a great actor and does a wonderful performance. He would have been Iconic as the Thing. He's got great comedic timing, he's perfect for action and serious drama. This is probably the best possible comic book role for him. I think he would be absolutely perfect as Ben Grimm. He's a great actor and would nail the line "It's Clobberin' Time!" His delivery of that line would be phenomenal, it would be worth the price of admission alone! Knowing he'd have to wear a Rubber suit for the Rock form and knowing he's tall enough to make his Orange Rock form look titanic in that suit with his bulky physique enhanced by it, that would make the Thing look like a monster of pure muscle. He has the perfect built stature and would be a great actor to stand as a role model for kids who would certainly look up to Ben and sharing interest in his characterization and despite shortcomings ability to chose the high road.

Alicia Masters [Height: 5' 4", Age: Late 20's-Early 30's]: Blind Sculptress,  Alicia was not frightened by the site of Ben Grimm, she might not have been able to see his appearance but learned of the Man inside the Monster and the two began a blooming relationship.

Jenna Fischer [Height: 5' 5", Age: 31 {As of 2005}, Notable Works: Melvin Goes to Dinner, The Office, Lollilove]: Jenna is a lovely actress. She has a lot of humanity in her performance and can certainly show some chops in terms of drama and humor. I think she well represents the Comic book version of  Alicia and she would do a fine job in the role.

Dr. Franklin Storm [Height: 6' 2", Age: 50's-60's]: A Scientist mentoring Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom, he had hoped to bring something wonderful to the world, But Victor's supposed Death had hurt him deeply. He had helped Reed at the Baxter Building and was factoring Reed's Data from the Space Gravitational Time experiments. But feels a strong sense of inadequacy due to Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben having powers. Franklin does what he can to assist them. He becomes the Secret Fifth Member of the Fantastic Four, helping them as a "look out" during field missions.

Jon Lithgow [Height: 6' 4",  Age: 58/59 {As of 2005}, Notable Works: Raising Cain, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Kinsey]: Jon is a phenomenal actor. He is one of the most talented actors to ever step into the small or silver screen. He does wonderful work whenever he appears and this is certainly a role where he would be able to shine and have fun while not being bogged down by heavy effects scenes involving him.

Ambassador Lucia Von Bardas [Height: 5' 9", Age: 30's]: Ambassador to the Good Doctor, working with him in secret to Kill the Fantastic Four, while Publicly working with the U.N. To help Latveria Join the Ranks of the United Nations Forefront.

Milla Jovovich [Height: 5' 9", Age: 30 {As of 2005}, Notable Works:  The Fifth Element, Resident Evil, Resident Evil Apocalypse]: There is no secret I've always been a fan of Milla. I have loved her work from her small stint on Married With Children, to her most popular Film the Fifth Element, to her later work in such horrible films like the Resident Evil series. She's a fun actress who is massively talented and could certainly do a wonderful job.

Dr. Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom [Height: 6' 2", Age: Late 30's]: Sucked into the N-ZONE, he had survived for 3 years. He learned early on his former friend, Reed, had no intentions of saving him. He was able to use newly gifted intelligence and technopathy to use the fragmented pieces of the machine to escape. Upon his return to Earth, he had traveled the world and learned the "magic of the world" and had built a suit of highly advanced armor with use of his  Technopathy, and had used his fantastical gifts to reclaim his homeland of Latveria from a tyrannical overlord, establishing his rule and known to the commoners of Latveria as "The Good Doctor." He had taken a remaining 2 years to construct a plan to kill Richards by exposing him to the N-Zone, a fate a lesser man like Richards would never survive.

Richard Roxburgh [Height: 5' 11", Age: 43 {In 2005}, Notable Works: Van Helsing, Mission: Impossible II, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen]: He's been in a lot of Bad movies. He is a fantastic, Shakespearean actor, who has done such incredible work in such horrendous movies. With Doom you need an actor willing to Overact and Underact at certain moments. I think Richard really has the talent to overact at a controlled UN-ridiculous  point, and he has a very cold and strict demeanor about him.  I think he has the talented voice work to give Dr. Doom a foreign tongue, and he can certainly "overact" well behind a mask. He would have brought the comic book Doom to life in the 2005 Movie, and that's coming from someone who certainly enjoys the work of Julian McMahon.
