In October of 2019 Todd Phillips' JOKER released and became an R-Rated theatrical juggernaut. It grossed over a billion dollars, received the Golden Lion as the Venice Film Festival (the festivals highest honor), and two Academy Awards (for Best Actor and Best Original Score). The absolute magnitude of success the film generated was simply unpredictable. Needless to say the film was a success on just about any metric you can name and with that comes the inevitable sequel talk. As mentioned in previous articles, both Phoenix and Phillips have spoken optimistically about the duo working on a sequel. While I have suggested how to handle a sequel previously, I have my own Idea on what I would do with a JOKER 2.
A myriad of thoughts, ideas and overall randomness that constitutes my interests and my mind.

My "JOKER 2" Pitch.
(JOKER Poster, DC/Warner Bros.)
JOKER Part II/JOKER: The Man Who Laughs
Set 18 years after Joker, it's now 1999 (thought like the first film the year isn't mentioned) a series of vicious assaults have been leaving various criminals in critical condition. Gotham Police assign the newly transferred James Gordon to the case. He works with FBI Agent Harvey Dent, in the investigation of these assaults. Due to the theatrical nature of these crimes, the duo are forced to seek help from an inmate at Arkham State Hospital: Arthur Fleck. In a Silence of the Lambs-styled thriller, it becomes a game between The Police, a vigilante the news calls "The Bat-Man", and Arthur. This leads to Arthur escaping the Hospital and reclaiming his title as "Joker" for a fateful confrontation with this Bat-Man. The results of which leads to Agent Dent being scarred in the battle between Batman and Joker.

Love this idea. Are you gonna do a fan cast for it?
ReplyDeleteProbably not. I haven't felt like doing any fancast this year.
